The Sick and the Sultry

December 28, 2009 by unbelonging

If you thought the only trouble celluloid goddesses encounter are bad hair days you were wrong!

This is the season to be jolly but things look rather dreary for Lara, Katrina, and Kareena. After a busy and successful year the ladies are nursing their health.

Lara Dutta has just had her kidney stones removed. She ravished us with her rustic look in Billu and in her glam gal avatar in Blue.

Katrina Kaif  had a successful year too with Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and New York. Now her haemoglobin count has nosedived and she is worn out.

Kareena Kapoor was a total diva in Kambakht Ishq and her next release, 3 Idiots, is releasing this weekend. The wrong time to be down and out with food poisoning.

In sickness and health, they continue to be divas.  Here’s to a healthier year 2010!

Anjana Anjani

December 16, 2009 by unbelonging

The latest buzz is that director Siddharth Anand, famous for his romcoms like Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste, will be bringing together Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in Anjana Anjani. The movie will be capturing images of New York during Christmas.  The lead pair have never even met each other and are complete strangers and that’s the way the director wants to keep it.

Ranbir Kapoor had a great year with all his releases doing well – Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Wake Up Sid, and Rocket Singh-The Salesman of the Year.

Piggy Chops enjoyed her share of success in Kaminey and What’s Your Rashee?

Will need to wait for 2010 to see how well the two stars work their jodi onscreen.

Accident on Hill Road

December 15, 2009 by unbelonging

It has been a while since we saw Celina Jaitley on the big screen. She has been in the news recently speaking up for gay rights.

Jaitley looks gorgeous (and terrified) in the movie stills of Accident on Hill Road with a sleek hair cut, dark eyes, and no foundation!

The movie is a thriller. A woman hits a man and drives back home with him. She is scared to call the cops or to get him to the hospital as she doesn’t want to land in a soup.

The movier also stars Farooq Shaikh and Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh.

Sallu Khush Hua

Boney Kapoor is planning a sequel to Mr India (1987). That is old news. But what is fresh news is that Salman Khan will seen as the zany villain, Mogambo. This part was originally played by the late Amrish Puri and is one of the most notorious villains in Bollywood history. His dialogue “Mogambo Khush Hua” sealed Mogambo’s reputation as a badass.

Guess it is time for Khan to hang up is hero act and get creative. The original movie had Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in the lead. Though there is still no news about who are the other stars in this sequel, some leaks from the Kapoor camp suggest that Sridevi and Anil Kapoor will appear in the sequel though the lead roles will be played by Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.

Definitely a movie to watch out for!

Rocket Singh- Salesman of the Year

December 4, 2009 by unbelonging

Ranbir Kapoor who wow-ed the audience with his performances in Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani plans to end the year with yet another promising act. This time the young Kapoor will be seen in Rocket Singh-Salesman of the Year! The movie also stars the talented daughter of talented parents, Shazahn Padamsee.

Kapoor takes conning to new heights in this movie which is directed by Shimit Amin and Jaideep Sahni.

The Rocket Singh movie posters and wallpapers show a bearded Ranbir wearing a sly grin.

Take  a look at this Rocket Singh’s Pocket Mein Rocket video HERE.

Radio

Himesh Reshammiya induces extreme reactions in people. He started out as a singer known for his nasal tone and the cap and going oooooooo into the mike like a wolf baying at the moon. Then came the movies. Aap Ka Suroor received a decent response while Karzzzz just made the audience groan.

Undeterred by the boos, the man has five movies in his kitty of which Radio will release this weekend. He gets to play loverboy to two lovely ladies, Sonal Sehgal and Shenaz Treasurywala.

The Radio movie’s release date is 3rd Dec 2009.

Killer Priyanka on the loose!

November 30, 2009 by unbelonging

Priyanka Chopra, after her fabulous performance in Kaminey, will be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Seven Husbands. The movie is based on a short story by Ruskin Bond. This is not the first time that Bhardwaj is dealing with Bond. The children’s movie, Blue Umbrella, was also inspired by a short story by Bond.  Ruskin Bond is writing the screenplay this time.

More about the story-

In this thriller, Priyanka plays an Anglo-Indian woman who marries seven men and sends all seven to the grave. And each time, she employs creative ways to say good bye. One husband dies out of an overdose of viagra!

India’s very own Black Widow!

In What’s Your Rashee?, she experimented with 12 distinctive looks and 7 Husbands will see her in seven different looks.

Though no actor has been named, the filmmaker promises that they may not be glam stars but they will be great actors.

De Dana Dan

Akshay Kumar rose and fell and then rose again after a string of madcap comedies. No sooner was he declared king, he appeared in four much-hyped movies, Chandni Chowk to China, 8×10 Tasveer, Kambakht Ishq, and Blue. The first was a disaster, the second already forgotten, the third glamorous, and the last adventurous with great camerawork.

His last release in 2009 is De Dana Dan. And it might just be his best movie this year for two reasons.

One, he’ll be back with his Hera Pheri co-stars Suneil Shetty and Paresh Rawal and this formula hasn’t failed yet.

Two, his leading lady is none other than Katrina Kaif, who has proved to be his lucky mascot earlier. They even share some wet-saree-rain scenes together. So the movie is not just about laughs, mind you.

Shetty’s girl in the movie is Sameera Reddy, who played the dumb blonde in Race.

Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story

Madhuri Dixit made a comeback of sorts in Aaja Nachle. The movie got a lukewarm response but the lady still dazzles. Now, the charismatic Dixit might be seen donning the avatar of Indira Gandhi  in Krishna Shah’s Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story.

If things go well, besides Madhuri, we might also see Abhay Deol as Rajiv Gandhi in this movie.

Being Sush!

November 19, 2009 by unbelonging

Sushmita Sen turns 34 on Nov 19th. She was 18 when she won the Miss Universe crown. Since then the actress has lived the good life her way.

Unlike most beauty pageant winners Sush didn’t pledge her eyes and rather than wait for death to do something of consequence, the lady adopted a little girl, Renee.

She didn’t wait for a man to hand her a diamond the size of a golf ball. She picked it up herself. She continues to date the most charming men around without hiding behind the beaten to death comment “We are just friends”.

She is the face of Olay’s anti-ageing cream but she attributed her youthful looks to Kaballah, a spiritual discipline.

She received many offers in Bollywood and though the misses are more than the hits she is still in the running, her personality standing taller than her acting skills.

Her comic portrayal of “the other woman” in Biwi No. 1 was applauded.

She made the world swoon when she appeared in chiffon sarees as a lecturer in Main Hoon Na with Shahrukh Khan.

She was seen in an item number in Fiza which starred Karishma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. She was seen with Salman Khan again in Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. The movie also starred Katrina Kaif.

In her 34th year now, Sush is getting ready for her release Dulha Mil Gaya, which sees SRK in a special appearance.
